In the 5G era, as the first batch of "killer" applications, 5G ultra-HD real-time video communicationis the first product category that has come into being on the 5G application side. As a provider of ultra-HD real-time video communication products and services, AV Solution Technology (AVST), a strategic 5G partner of Fibocom, uses the end + cloud architecture toprovide 5G + UHD + AI full-scenario solutions for users from government, enterprises, finance, radio & television, judiciary, education, medicalcare, communications, and industrial sectors. AVST is strong in customization, with most products produced domestically, and are highly independent and controllable. Its video coding algorithms based on deep learning and heterogeneous multi-link fusion communication technology are at a leading position in the industry.
The current live video market is divided into two sections – existing and growth. The existing market is concentrated on HD video systems that rely on wired private networks (video conferencing, surveillance, and course recording), which will grow steadily towards ultra-HD systems. The growth market involves 5G-driven ultra-HD video communication systems, which is expected to welcome explosive growth.
The latter is the main playfield of AVST, where the company has developed a number of application-specific solutions. They include broadcast and live broadcast, smartambulance, MEC smart venue, industrial patrol, emergency command, etc.
5G Live Broadcast
Ultra-HD real-time video communication
In the upcoming years when the Summer and Winter Olympics take place, the demand for 5G+ ultra-HD live broadcast isexpected to surge. At present, 4K live broadcast is mostly enabled by a camera and an OB van. Signals are transmitted back to the studio via the OB vehicle, microwave and satellite communication, which are usually unaffordable for small TV stations, small market-oriented businesses, and freelance journalists.
Based on 5G networks, AVST's devices ensurethe return transmission of mobile 4K live streaming signals for enterprises and individual journalists. In the coming Olympic Games, the return feed of sportsfield signals and mobile signals will play a key role. 4K/ 8K+5G+AI scenarioan alysis and compression + multi-link transmission are expected to greatly improve professional market-oriented 4K/ 8K live broadcasts and reduce costs.

AVST’s embedded video communication terminal with 5G access has integrated ultra-HD signal acquisition, encoding, decoding, and display. Built on an end + cloud public network architecture, itno longer needs a MCU or private network. The product supports multi-link 5G channel aggregate transmission, with a peak bandwidth of 4Gbps-UL/ 8Gbps-DL. The 8K+HDR ultra-HD video can meet all medical and broadcast needs. Featuring 40-80ms end-to-end ultra-low closed-loop latency, it also supports one-to-many high concurrent live broadcast and multipoint bidirectional conferencing. Thanks to AI-enabled HEVC video compression technology and multi-channel audioprocessing technology, the terminal offers audio mixing and echo suppression aswell. Other features of this embedded device are: passive cooling, low power consumption, high stability, mobile use, and lower costs in deployment and maintenance.
Fibocom’s FM150 and FG150 5G modules provide stable wireless connection for AVST’s 5G video communication devices. These modules are designed with industry-leading 2T4R antennas featuring 2*2MIMO – about twice the uplink rate of 1T4R.
5G MEC Smart Venue
Multi-access edge computing
Sports events or performances are demanding on video technologies and frame rates. However, video devices at the radio and television levels do not support customization and network access, while monitors and video conference communication equipment offer lower performancein image quality and frame rates. Moreover, in live scenarios, audiences’ perspectives are usually fixed. AVST can cluster the audio and video data onsite with an edge computing system, by setting multiple camera stands in the venue and connecting to 5G video devices. When users enter the venue, they can watch the event, control playback, and change views in real time by downloading an app to their mobile phone/ tablet.
